With the spread of the Internet, we now have instant access to a vast amount of information. At the same time, however, this easy access to information has led to the commoditization of ideas that feel like deja vu. The news that comes through our timelines and the images that we see on our screens. The main theme of DESIGNART TOKYO 2024 is “Reframing – the beginning of a shift. We focused on the activities of creators who present new values by looking at things from a different perspective, without being bound by conventional frameworks. This official exhibition is a groundbreaking exhibition that allows visitors to experience “Reframing” by around 18 creators, curated by four leading figures in different fields such as art, design, crafts, and technology. This is a groundbreaking exhibition. The curators, who have been pursuing their own unique beauty, and the creators, who crystallize their own beliefs into works of art. Looking at this exhibition, I feel that while each genre should be respected in its own context, it is no longer meaningful to clearly demarcate the boundaries between them. Rigid thinking and assumptions only narrow the possibilities. Their works question the world that is bound by such common sense and unconsciously limits itself. Is the world we see now being blocked by someone else’s filter? Beyond Reframing, you may find new discoveries and hints that will lead to an exciting future.
