Civic Creative Base Tokyo [CCBT] (CCBT) has held its third call for applications for Artist Fellows, who will work as CCBT partners in creative activities.

CCBT’s core program “Art Incubation,” for which the call for applications was made this time, is a program that provides creators with opportunities for new creative activities and opens the process to citizens (civic), with the aim of creating expression, exploration, and action that will change the city for the better. This year, we invited projects in two categories focusing on “creativity” and “humanity” for the future, and received a total of 86 applications.

As a result of the selection process, an exhibition depicting the future of civil society, a proposal for new food using biotechnology, and a research project confronting one’s own cancer cells and immune cells were selected. Also selected were projects that analyze Tokyo’s landfill sites and residences from the perspectives of art, design, and technology, and develop them into critiques and archives, and attempt to design new rules.

The activities of these Fellows will be made public in order from August 2024.
