Delinquent Son
2021.11.16 SHIHO Fukuhara, UMI Chae
“Cancer” has negative meaning than positive.
However, malignant tumour that can be removed and remain alive are also the subject of regenerative medicine research.
From the outset, cancer cells are the children they have borne, and patients must continue to face them.
Fukuhara called such cells ‘defective sons’.
Doctors describe the character of cancer cells as a ‘face’.
We envisioned a portrait of the delinquent son, whose face can be seen even though he has no face, and the crafting technique of Tosa Tengucho Paper, which is as thin as a cell membrane, has enabled us to create a transparent portrait.
